Building a résumé
Organizing skills, experience, and activities into a clean, clear one-page résumé.
From a first job to a career, students build the skills employers look for. Practice happens step by step — writing a résumé, preparing for interviews, and learning what workplaces expect.
What students will practice
Organizing skills, experience, and activities into a clean, clear one-page résumé.
Reading a job posting and completing an application carefully and completely.
Common questions, how to prepare answers, and what to expect on interview day.
Communication, time management, and the expectations that help you succeed at work.
Try it
A résumé often opens with a short objective — one sentence about what you're looking for. Here's a sample:
"Dependable and eager high-school student seeking a part-time role where I can learn, contribute, and grow."
Students practice rewriting it in their own words — no personal contact details required for the exercise.
Skills for everyday life
These skills carry into every job search — presenting yourself clearly, communicating professionally, showing up prepared, and understanding what it takes to keep and grow in a role.
We're glad to answer questions from families, caregivers, schools, and partners.
